About the position

The Credit Analyst II at First Interstate Bank is responsible for collaborating with Relationship Managers to gather and evaluate commercial credit-related information on current and prospective customers. This role involves preparing detailed written reports that include in-depth analysis of financial statements, cash flow projections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to gather and evaluate commercial credit information.
  • Prepare written reports of analysis including financial statements, cash flow projections, and risk assessments.
  • Analyze credit worthiness of commercial applicants and guarantors by reviewing loan applications and financial statements.
  • Calculate cash flows, leverage, and liquidity ratios, and evaluate collateral.
  • Conduct research on borrowers and key industries to identify risks.
  • Author comprehensive reports using data analysis and written narratives.
  • Suggest proper risk ratings based on financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and bank credit policies.
  • Assist in preparing reports for quarterly monitoring of commercial relationships.
  • Complete financial performance metric covenant testing.
  • Participate in a quality control program for reviewing financial forms and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • 7-9 years of banking experience in a similar position or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial spread software, preferably Moody's Risk Analyst or Moody's Lending Cloud.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commercial banking experience preferred.
