About the position

Seeking an experienced Credit Analyst III with over 5 years of credit analysis experience. This position is responsible for analyzing credit data to estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to firms or individuals. The Credit Analyst III will assume the responsibilities of the Credit Analysis Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity in the department's operations. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, a team player, and possess a strong work ethic. The role requires conducting thorough analyses of financial statements and assessing credit requests on complex commercial credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater. The analyst must stay updated with the company's lending protocols and effectively manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure work environment, demonstrating a working knowledge of accounting principles and financial techniques. In addition to analyzing financial data, the Credit Analyst III will research industry information, the history of borrowers, and any relevant articles that may impact the creditworthiness of potential clients. Responsibilities include performing loan reviews and annual reviews on selected borrowers and guarantors, conducting cash flows, financial credit analysis, collateral valuations, and global cash flows for commercial borrowers. The analyst will accompany relationship managers on customer calls and site visits as needed, ensuring that credit information is maintained and updated in a timely manner. Identifying policy, collateral, and missing document exceptions, as well as assessing the strengths and weaknesses of relationships, are critical components of this role. The Credit Analyst III will also run credit bureaus and background checks for potential and existing commercial customers and guarantors, spreading financial statements and tax returns to evaluate creditworthiness. The position involves assisting relationship managers in structuring credits, assessing covenants, and monitoring procedures. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for training and developing new relationship managers and credit analysts, ensuring they are well-versed in the credit analysis process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests on complex commercial credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater.
  • Keep up to date with the company's lending protocols.
  • Manage competing deadlines for projects in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Research industry information and history of the borrower.
  • Perform loan reviews/annual reviews on selected borrowers and guarantors for commercial credit relationships of $2,500,000 and greater.
  • Perform cash flows, financial credit analysis, collateral valuations, and global cash flows for commercial borrowers and guarantors.
  • Accompany relationship managers on customer calls and site visits as requested.
  • Perform ongoing file maintenance to ensure credit information is uploaded to the credit file in a timely manner.
  • Identify policy, collateral, and missing document exceptions.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the relationship.
  • Run credit bureaus and background checks for potential and existing commercial customers and guarantors.
  • Spread financial statements and tax returns for potential and existing commercial customers and guarantors.
  • Assist relationship managers in structuring credits, assessing covenants, and monitoring procedures.
  • Train and develop new relationship managers on the credit analysis process.
  • Mentor new credit analysts and the CDP analyst on credit analysis underwriting and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five or more years of credit analysis experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience in the Credit Analysis Department in the manager's absence.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Moody's, the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to use bank-specific software such as MPC, IBS, ADP, and other programs for statistical and financial calculations.
  • Proficiency with financial reports and statements.
