About the position

CoBank is offering a summer internship for Credit Analyst Interns, providing real-life exposure to the daily duties of the team. Interns will engage in various projects that impact the bank's operations, culminating in a capstone project aimed at adding value to their respective teams. This internship serves as a pathway to a full-time Credit Analyst Program upon graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze balance sheets, cash flow, profitability, liquidity, and solvency statements for commercial credit reports.
  • Engage in portfolio management tasks, addressing compliance, finance, legal, and closing-related issues.
  • Develop analytical skills through hands-on training and mentorship.
  • Complete a capstone summer project involving industry research, portfolio analysis, or economic outlooks.
  • Participate in credit trainings and attend customer visits/events as available.
  • Conduct research for capstone presentation and complete other research projects based on office needs.
  • Network and learn about other divisions within CoBank.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Agribusiness, or a related discipline.
  • Good academic standing, with priority given to rising seniors and consideration for rising juniors.
  • Basic understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in agriculture, banking, or financial services industry.
