About the position

Heritage Bank is seeking an experienced Credit Analyst to join their Tigard, OR office. The Credit Analyst will assist Commercial Bankers in underwriting credits, managing portfolios, and providing customer service for a designated portfolio of commercial accounts. This role involves ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, preparing thorough credit analyses, and responding to customer inquiries in a timely manner. The position requires independent management of a small portfolio and the ability to analyze financial information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Commercial Bankers in underwriting credits and managing portfolios.
  • Provide exceptional customer service regarding credit aspects of banking relationships.
  • Independently collect financial statements and other relevant information from clients.
  • Complete financial statement spreading and cash flow analysis as needed.
  • Identify loan purposes, sources of repayment, and collateral values in credit memorandums.
  • Participate in meetings with credit administration to negotiate structuring and pricing.
  • Track loan agreement compliance and monitor financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial information and document trends for loan agreement violations.
  • Interact with customers to gather information for loan renewals.
  • Participate in construction administration processes for monthly draws.
  • Maintain knowledge of commercial law and banking regulations to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or relevant discipline required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of recent commercial credit underwriting experience for Level II.
  • 5+ years of recent commercial credit underwriting experience for Senior level.
  • Completion of a formal credit training program highly desired.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and present credit worthiness opinions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling techniques and cash flow analysis.
  • Experience with lending practices and loan documentation.
