About the position

Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking an experienced Credit Analyst to join our team, with the opportunity to work in various branch locations including Mount Joy, Lewisburg, Mechanicsburg, Reedsville, or Frederick. This position is designed for individuals who are looking for a collaborative team environment and a strong work/life balance. The hours of operation are typically Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and after six months of successful employment, the position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical skills, particularly in agricultural or commercial credit analysis. This role is crucial in making a positive impact on agriculture and rural communities. As a Credit Analyst, you will serve as a financial professional, delivering sound credit and financial services in accordance with regulations and policies. Your primary responsibilities will include accurately analyzing and underwriting loans for both prospective and existing borrowers. You will collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to structure, condition, and approve credits, while also developing relationships with large and complex customers to enhance the credit analysis process. Your role will involve promoting related services, participating in credit decisions, and maintaining a favorable image for Farm Credit. Key responsibilities include analyzing financial information, preparing loan narratives that summarize financial analyses, collaborating with Relationship Managers, managing the loan underwriting pipeline, and participating in continued education regarding agricultural industry trends. You will also assist in preparing larger loan packages and monitoring compliance with loan covenants. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with cross-functional teams and contribute to various projects and research as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information including historical trends, pro-forma projections, and debt repayment schedules.
  • Prepare a loan narrative summarizing financial analysis and addressing the five C's of credit.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to finalize credit recommendations.
  • Obtain necessary delegated authority for loan approvals.
  • Study and familiarize with internal credit practices and compliance standards.
  • Manage loan underwriting pipeline and meet targeted turnaround times for loan decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of larger loan packages and monitor compliance with loan covenants.
  • Participate in continued education of agricultural industry trends and news.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams and participate in association initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or Finance.
  • Minimum of two years of agricultural or commercial credit analysis/underwriting experience.
  • Sound credit judgment and differential credit skills for accurate credit package completion.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a geographically diverse team.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
