About the position

The Credit Analyst position at Vantage Bank Texas is a full-time role focused on providing in-depth risk analysis and underwriting for credit decision makers. The analyst evaluates the creditworthiness of both commercial and individual borrowers, ensuring compliance with the bank's risk appetite and regulatory guidelines. This role requires a combination of analytical skills and sound judgment to support informed credit decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit analyses for loan requests, including reviewing financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with loan officers to clarify borrower details, address potential concerns, and ensure a thorough understanding of each borrower's unique circumstances.
  • Prepare detailed underwriting reports that summarize findings and recommendations for senior management and credit committees.
  • Provide insights and guidance on credit policies and procedures in collaboration with loan officers and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on banking regulations changes, industry trends, and economic factors impacting underwriting and risk practices.
  • Occasionally join loan officers on calls or site visits with prospects or customers.
  • Represent the Bank in community functions to enhance its image and develop additional business.
  • Perform various tasks and projects as requested by the Credit Review Manager, requiring creativity and latitude.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of other department team members and support staff.
  • Reinforce superior customer service through personal example and follow-through.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (B.A. or B.S.).
  • 2+ years of work experience as a commercial underwriter, credit analyst, and/or financial analyst.
  • Proven track record in analyzing and underwriting all types of loans for both C&I and CRE borrowers.
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, including balance sheet and income statement analysis, tax return analysis, and cash flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial spreading software; experience with Moody's CreditLens and Bukers Taxanalysis is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, compliance standards, and risk management practices.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and other business-related documents in detail.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with basic typing skills to meet production needs.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present information and respond to inquiries.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
