About the position

The Credit Analyst position is responsible for supporting lending efforts within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) group by underwriting new and renewed loans, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with the bank's credit policies. The role involves managing credit transactions, communicating with various stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records of loan applications and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial analysis, analytical, and underwriting support to business lines within the CIB.
  • Ensure loan requests are underwritten consistently and in accordance with the Bank's credit policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Manage assigned credit transactions, ensuring loan requests are handled efficiently and processed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with lenders, credit officers, and management regarding specifics concerning approved and declined loans.
  • Track, monitor, and report activity on loan applications and decisions, maintaining a record of loan applications received and booked.
  • Maintain the independence of the underwriting function and the recommendation of the initial credit risk rating.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.
  • Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work.
  • Follow Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business, finance, accounting, or other job-related field, or commensurate work experience, required.
  • Knowledge of general financial and banking principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank regulations related to the Office of Foreign Asset Control, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with staff and management at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong credit skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work product.
  • Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience (to include internships) within banking, finance, and/or accounting, preferred.
