About the position

The Credit Card Acquisition Risk Strategy Manager plays a crucial role in the quantitative development and monitoring of Huntington's consumer card credit strategies aimed at acquiring new accounts. This position is responsible for formulating strategies related to initial customer and prospect targeting, account approvals, and the assignment of initial credit lines. Additionally, the manager ensures that the ongoing credit mix for new accounts aligns with established loss and risk-adjusted return portfolio targets. This role requires a comprehensive oversight of all consumer credit card new account origination credit strategies, which encompasses strategy development, segment-level reporting, and change management activities. As the lead resource, the manager will develop quantitative analyses to enhance Huntington's credit card loss and risk-adjusted return outcomes. This includes the planning, execution, presentation, implementation, monitoring, and redevelopment phases of various strategies. The role also involves the development and maintenance of champion-challenger tests across different approval and line assignment strategies, with regular reporting of results to senior management. Continuous interaction with key business partners is essential to advance business priorities, including collaboration with Credit Administration, Underwriting, Fraud, Model Risk Management, Product, and Legal/Compliance teams. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and think independently. The manager must be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks within tight deadlines. A customer service orientation is vital, ensuring that both internal and external customers are effectively supported. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic direction of credit card acquisition risk management at Huntington, ensuring that all strategies are data-driven and aligned with the company's overall risk management framework.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all consumer credit card new account origination credit strategies, including strategy development and change management activities.
  • Develop quantitative analyses to improve credit card loss and risk-adjusted return results.
  • Plan, execute, present, implement, monitor, and redevelop credit strategies.
  • Develop and maintain champion-challenger tests across various approval and line assignment strategies.
  • Regularly report results of strategies to senior management.
  • Interact continuously with key business partners to advance business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of Risk Management experience in the financial services industry.
  • Fluency in SQL, SAS, or comparable coding experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with automated decision engines such as Zoot, Power Curve, or Strategy Manager.
  • Previous analytical experience in the Card industry with an understanding of credit card P&L and credit risk management best practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to think independently.
  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, or comparable coursework.
