About the position

The Credit Analyst role at Nutrien is responsible for managing corporate credit and collection policies for a designated number of customer accounts in the Southeast region of the United States. This position involves analyzing credit requests, establishing credit lines, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the financial health of accounts receivable. The role requires collaboration with sales management to enhance sales potential while safeguarding the company's credit investments.

Responsibilities

  • Apply corporate credit and collection policies to customer accounts within specified limits.
  • Work closely with sales management to improve sales potential while protecting accounts receivable.
  • Mentor and train junior credit employees as assigned.
  • Utilize credit reporting services to compile reports on potential customers' credit history.
  • Establish credit lines for individual accounts in accordance with company policy.
  • Analyze credit requests to determine necessary information for sound decision-making.
  • Review financial statements and supplementary information to evaluate credit risk.
  • Direct all credit and collection activities within the designated area.
  • Maintain loan documentation files and monitor compliance.
  • Consult with superiors on complex credit issues requiring policy deviations.
  • Handle non-routine credit inquiries and correspondence.
  • Plan and maintain a systematic follow-up program for receivables collection.
  • Monitor the financial position of established accounts and address irregularities.
  • Review collections status to ensure accounts receivable are sound.
  • Follow the aging accounts closely and determine necessary actions.
  • Represent the company at creditors' meetings and bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Participate in periodic analysis of market and economic conditions affecting credit policy.
  • Supervise procedures related to collateral and lien instruments.
  • Process bad-debt charge-offs in a timely manner.
  • Oversee accounts receivable processing and address collection irregularities.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve problems and negotiate payment schedules.
  • Prepare and submit operating reports on accounts receivable status.
  • Establish consultative relationships with various departments and external entities.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with customers and financial institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of commercial lending experience, preferably in agricultural lending or trade finance with approval authority.
