About the position

As a Credit Ops Analyst I in Card Lending Services at JPMorgan Chase & Co., you will play a crucial role in the commercial credit underwriting process. This position requires a strong focus on credit quality and risk assessment, as you will be responsible for reviewing and underwriting existing commercial credit requests. Your ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns will be essential, as you will perform ratio analysis and complete risk assessments to make informed credit decisions. You will also be expected to communicate your findings and recommendations effectively, both in written and verbal formats, to various stakeholders including Business Bankers and Risk Policy teams. In this role, you will execute and support your recommendations, particularly when faced with challenges or negotiations regarding counteroffers. You will handle underwriting for commercial requests that vary in size and complexity, requiring minimal guidance from your immediate manager. Your proficiency in credit and lending transactions will enable you to exercise independent judgment in your decision-making processes. Additionally, you will be tasked with performing investigations and recommending process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. A significant aspect of your responsibilities will include managing the business card portfolio, which involves conducting high line reviews and overseeing credit limits. You will also engage in proactive portfolio management, identifying credit trends and weaknesses, completing periodic and annual credit reviews, and initiating collections activities as part of overall business relationship management. Your analytical skills will be vital in determining creditworthiness and adjusting credit limits accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform spreading of business financial statements/tax returns, perform ratio analysis, complete risk assessment and make sound credit decisions and recommendations via written and verbal presentations
  • Execute and support recommendations when challenged and in negotiating counteroffers, where appropriate
  • Perform underwriting commercial requests for lines of moderate to large size and complexity with limited guidance required from immediate manager
  • Perform investigations, recommend and initiate process improvements
  • Perform high line review on business card portfolio including CL, J&S and PL accounts
  • Perform portfolio management responsibilities to include proactive identification of credit trends and weaknesses, completion of periodic and annual credit reviews and initiating collections activity in connection with overall business relationship management
  • Complete commercial credit analysis to determine credit worthiness and adjusts credit limits accordingly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline
  • 3 years commercial credit lending experience
  • Computer skills specific to Microsoft products and proprietary systems
  • Experience in supporting recommendations when challenged and in negotiating counteroffers, where appropriate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Successful completion of a major corporate bank commercial training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance or accounting experience)
