The Credit Portfolio Manager III - Asset Based Lending is a pivotal role within the Commercial division, responsible for providing an independent perspective in underwriting and managing complex asset-based lending loans and relationships. This position operates up to the bank's legal lending limit and collaborates closely with Business Development Officers, Relationship Managers, Credit Portfolio Managers, and the Credit Portfolio Management Team Leader to deliver comprehensive credit solutions. The role demands a high level of expertise, as the Credit Portfolio Manager III is expected to be a subject matter expert (SME) in their respective portfolio, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and compliance guidelines. In this role, the manager will lead the independent underwriting process for both new and renewal opportunities within an assigned portfolio, which includes some of the more complex credits and larger portfolios within the Wholesale Bank. The position requires in-depth analysis of financial statements, borrowing base certificates, collateral field examinations, appraisals, and other diligence reports. The manager will also assess management competencies, industry impacts, competitive dynamics, collateral, and guarantor support for new and renewal opportunities, contributing to effective credit risk management. The Credit Portfolio Manager III will prepare detailed financial projections using vendor-provided solutions such as Moody's Risk Analyst or Excel spreadsheets. They will make informed recommendations to Credit Approvers regarding credit amounts, structures, and compliance with policies. Additionally, the manager will coordinate all third-party due diligence for new underwritings, including collateral field exams and appraisals, while managing their assigned portfolio by proactively monitoring performance and trends. This includes ensuring risk rating integrity, timely compliance with covenants, identifying issues, and assisting with compliance and regulatory reviews. The role also involves participating in or leading client calls alongside Business Development Officers to address financial inquiries, gather deal information, and fulfill other portfolio management requirements. The manager may also engage in special projects aimed at enhancing portfolio management processes and will mentor junior Credit Portfolio Managers as appropriate. Overall, this position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and performance of the bank's asset-based lending portfolio, while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations.
