About the position

The Credit Review Audit Manager is responsible for overseeing independent assessments of Northwest Bank's loan portfolios, ensuring that significant risks are identified and reported to executive management and the Audit Committee. This role involves evaluating credit risks, improving governance processes, and managing the Credit Review Audit team to enhance the overall credit quality of the bank.

Responsibilities

  • Manage personal workload and the day-to-day functions of the credit review staff.
  • Detect and assess common themes and emerging risks in loan portfolios.
  • Gather and analyze loan-related financial information to assess borrower strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identify early signs of loan problems and validate or amend risk ratings as appropriate.
  • Facilitate the completion of periodic loan review reports and establish credit review audit strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of credit policies and procedures, identifying weaknesses and providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Manage credit review software to ensure adherence to policy and departmental objectives.
  • Prepare executive summary reports for the Audit Committee and senior management.
  • Assist in the annual risk assessment process and development of the annual audit plan.
  • Monitor major initiatives and projects related to internal controls and governance.
  • Coordinate validation testing with outsourced internal audit service providers and ensure timely responses from management.
  • Oversee audits conducted by outsourced service providers and credit audit staff, tracking audit statuses and reviewing workpapers.
  • Ensure compliance with IIA standards and IAD policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • 12-15 years of credit review/lending or business-related experience required.
  • 6-8 years of audit experience in a financial services internal audit department, bank regulatory agency, or public accounting firm preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading, coaching, and developing team members preferred.
  • Ability to apply advanced financial analysis techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of Commercial/Consumer Credit, generally accepted accounting practices, and auditing practices.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley Section 404, bank compliance standards, and risk management frameworks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software and department-specific applications.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and perform special reviews at management's request.
