About the position

The Credit Risk Analyst at Optum is responsible for assessing credit risks associated with the Bank's lending and investing activities. This role involves performing fundamental credit analysis, evaluating the financial strength of borrowers, and providing recommendations for loan transactions. The Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to monitor credit trends and ensure adherence to policies and procedures, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes through effective risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Bank's lending and investing stakeholders to assess potential credit risks.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of the credit and financial strength of commercial and consumer counterparts.
  • Review loans to determine potential risks and adherence to policies.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining credit risk rating methodologies.
  • Support senior leadership in assessing data availability and reporting needs for credit risk assessment.
  • Conduct broader sector analysis to assess industry fundamentals and portfolio trends.
  • Generate reports with early warning indicators and propose rating action recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or Master's level degree in Business Risk Management.
  • 1+ years of experience in reading, interpreting, and analyzing GAAP financial statements.
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel, including financial spreading and advanced formulas.
  • Must live in the Draper UT/Salt Lake City UT regional area and work onsite.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a bank or financial institution focused on due diligence and financial analysis.
  • 1+ years of credit risk management experience.
  • Functional knowledge in various credit rating methodologies.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills.
