About the position

As a Credit Risk Underwriter at Fiserv, you will play a crucial role in the financial technology sector by analyzing and assessing the creditworthiness of both existing and new national accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to review a high volume of risk alerts to identify potentially high-risk or suspicious merchant processing activities. This involves making real-time decisions to determine which situations require deeper investigation, as well as identifying emerging fraud trends and false positive alerts that do not necessitate further action. In addition to monitoring risk alerts, you will coordinate risk mitigation and fraud remediation efforts with various departments within the organization, including Funding, Legal, Operations, and Client Services. You will also be tasked with conducting detailed financial analyses of new and existing merchant requests, assigning credit ratings, and applying appropriate credit enhancements when necessary. Your role will require you to engage in high-level conversations with both internal and external clients, maintaining a solid understanding of the Partners' credit policies and procedures. You will need to identify exceptions to policy and document any deficiencies in the account underwriting and referral processes. This position is integral to ensuring that Fiserv continues to operate securely and efficiently in the fast-paced world of financial transactions. Responsibilities

  • Review a high volume of risk alerts to identify potentially high risk/suspicious merchant processing activity.
  • Make real-time decisions to identify situations requiring deeper investigation.
  • Identify emerging fraud trends and false positive alerts that require no additional action.
  • Coordinate risk mitigation and fraud remediation efforts with other areas of the business such as Funding, Legal, Operations, and Client Services.
  • Complete detailed financial analysis of new and existing merchant requests.
  • Assign credit ratings and apply appropriate credit enhancements where necessary.
  • Conduct high-level conversations with internal and external clients.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the Partners' credit policies and procedures.
  • Identify exceptions to policy and documentation deficiencies in account underwriting and referral processes.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent prior work experience in credit risk, fraud, and/or underwriting.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Pre-Law, etc.
  • Experience with MasterCard and Visa Association rules and regulations.
  • Customer Service experience with a track record of dealing in adverse situations.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
