Crematory Operator

About the position

The Crematory Operator at Rosewood Funeral Home is responsible for the respectful and efficient operation of crematory equipment and processes. This role involves managing all aspects of the cremation process, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations while providing compassionate service to families during their time of need.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain crematory equipment with attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
• Perform cremations with respect and dignity, following established protocols and ensuring the highest level of care for the deceased.
• Verify the identity of the deceased and maintain accurate records throughout the cremation process.
• Monitor and manage the cremation process, including loading and unloading remains and handling cremated remains with care.
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of crematory equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing cremation practices.
• Communicate effectively with funeral home staff, addressing any concerns or questions with sensitivity and professionalism.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper disposal of materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a crematory or similar environment preferred.
• Knowledge of crematory equipment and cremation processes preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
