About the position

Ingram Marine Group is seeking experienced Crew Boat Captains for our terminals located in Reserve, Burnside, and Darrow, Louisiana. This full-time position involves the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of assigned vessels. As a Crew Boat Captain, you will be responsible for navigating the boat to and from the shoreline while transporting crew members, company personnel, VIP guests, outside vendors, and contractors, as well as supplies and materials. The role requires you to transport crew at the beginning and end of your assigned shift, and you may also need to stop at various work sites to pick up or drop off crew on different vessels. Additionally, you will be making extra runs when materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and need to be delivered, or when transporting company personnel, inspectors, and guests. The position demands a high level of attentiveness and skill, especially when encountering rough seas or waves rolling towards the shore. You will need to maintain the safety of all individuals on board during these challenging conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the Ingram Way, which emphasizes safety, teamwork, and effective communication across all levels of the organization. You will be expected to lift, pull, or push equipment, supplies, and parts weighing up to 50 lbs, and must possess a US Coast Guard 100-ton License, FCC Radio Permit, TWIC, and a valid driver's license. A radar certificate is desired but not mandatory. You will also need to complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen, and be capable of operating and maintaining vessel navigation equipment and machinery, as well as employing lifesaving procedures such as firefighting and first aid.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and navigate the boat to and from the shoreline while transporting crew and personnel.
  • Transport crew at the beginning and end of assigned shifts, stopping at various work sites as needed.
  • Make additional runs for materials, equipment, and supplies as ordered.
  • Maintain safety and compliance during transportation, especially in rough sea conditions.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication with all levels within the organization.

Requirements

  • Must have US Coast Guard 100-ton License with FCC Radio Permit.
  • TWIC and valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to read and write in English to comply with USCG regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate and maintain vessel navigation equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to employ lifesaving procedures on a vessel, including firefighting and first aid.

Nice-to-haves

  • Radar certificate desired.
