About the position
The Crew Leader position at Kinder Morgan involves overseeing a team of 6 to 10 employees in the offloading of bulk materials and ensuring safe and efficient operations at the Trinity Terminal. The role requires training employees in equipment operation, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting maintenance issues. The Crew Leader is expected to work in various weather conditions and maintain a high level of performance while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Direct the work of 6 to 10 employees in the offloading of bulk material from barges into dump trucks.
- Train employees in the safe and efficient operation of excavators, loaders, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Perform and train employees to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and take necessary actions.
- Record and report ongoing or major problems to the terminal manager for resolution.
- Look for more efficient and safer ways to perform operations.
- Resolve minor issues and disputes as they arise.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a can-do attitude.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic math skills.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to gather information for statistical process control and other reports.
- Ability to develop and implement work schedules to fulfill customer requirements.
- Ability to take initiative and work with co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with a team and adhere to required work schedules.
Nice-to-haves
- Some college education preferred.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
