The Underground Crew Leader position at Pike Corporation is a skilled role focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. This position involves supervising crew members, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and leading training efforts for lower-skilled employees. The role requires a strong understanding of underground services and the ability to troubleshoot issues in energized and de-energized environments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crew members and ensure safety during construction, maintenance, or repair work.
• Lead and train lower-skilled employees in safe and productive work procedures.
• Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings to prepare the crew for tasks.
• Troubleshoot problems on underground circuits and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinate and inspect the work of crew members to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
• Perform rigorous physical labor and work in confined spaces as needed.
• Understand and apply grounding procedures and safety protocols for high voltage systems.

Requirements

• Possess a valid CDL and demonstrate safe driving practices.
• Working knowledge of leadership and management skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with tools for terminating cable and understanding of induced voltage.
• Knowledge of underground distribution systems and ability to identify primary and secondary voltage.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in working with energized high voltage systems.
• Knowledge of flag and tag procedures.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and extended periods at different locations.
