About the position

The Crew Scheduler at Eastern Airlines LLC is responsible for the efficient utilization and scheduling of flight crew resources. This role requires a thorough understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and involves direct communication with various operational managers and crew members. The position is temporary-to-hire, expected to last approximately 3-6 months, with the potential for a permanent role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills while ensuring compliance with all scheduling regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient utilization of pilots and track their attendance.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to all crewmembers regarding scheduling-related items.
  • Notify crewmembers of daily/monthly schedule changes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all crewmember assignments comply with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor and verify the integrity of the flight schedule, ensuring all segments have assigned legal crews.
  • Resolve flight crew legality problems and rest requirements based on regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain communication with crewmembers, flight control, and station personnel regarding crew schedules.
  • Process trip swaps, drops, sick calls, emergency leaves, and other schedule modifications.
  • Secure necessary accommodations such as hotel and deadhead flight bookings.
  • Utilize reserve crewmembers efficiently to ensure operational reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with FARs, contract requirements, and departmental guidelines.
  • Work closely with dispatchers to resolve problems and coordinate daily operations.
  • Report on daily scheduling and department status.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Two years in a customer service or airline role or one year of Crew Scheduling experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on quality, tone, detail, and accuracy.
  • PC proficient in Microsoft Office products and general internet applications.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing environments and priorities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations using decimals and hours/minutes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a customer service role within the airline industry.
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 121 and Part 117 crew scheduling requirements.
