About the position

The Crewperson 5 in Security Systems and Operations is a vital role responsible for servicing and maintaining low voltage systems, which include WAN/LAN networks, CCTV systems, cameras, DVRs, and associated software applications. This position also involves working with Napco security systems and access control systems, requiring a solid understanding of computer hardware repair, fiber optics, and camera systems. The Crewperson will be involved in new installations and major renovations of systems as dictated by capital improvement projects, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet the required standards. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Crewperson is expected to maintain a professional appearance and punctuality, reflecting a positive image of the organization. Employees must adhere to their scheduled hours and seek prior approval for any deviations. The role also includes assisting with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, which may vary based on the needs of the organization. The position requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and may involve working outdoors in inclement weather. The Crewperson must be able to wear safety equipment as required and may need to work overtime on short notice. The job demands physical stamina, as it may involve working in confined or high spaces and performing strenuous physical tasks. The daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and service delivery, requiring flexibility and adaptability from the employee.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain low voltage systems including WAN/LAN, CCTV, cameras, and DVRs.
  • Assist with new installations and major system renovations as dictated by capital improvement projects.
  • Report any hazardous conditions and perform work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain good public relations, representing both the Facilities Division and Wichita Public Schools.
  • Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside assignments.
  • Display willingness to be trained in all phases of assignments to increase skills for advancement.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications, including a valid Kansas driver's license.
  • Support organizational goals and the mission of the School Service Center and the district.
  • Communicate effectively with Job Coordinators and attend required meetings and in-services.
  • Assume responsibility for all tools, supplies, and materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license throughout employment.
  • Experience in servicing and maintaining low voltage systems is required.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work productively in stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Napco security systems and access control systems.
  • Knowledge of various types of materials and procedures used in the area.
