About the position

The Crime Intelligence Analyst I position within the Criminal Investigations Division of the Department of Financial Services is responsible for supporting investigations related to various forms of fraud, including insurance and workers' compensation fraud. The role involves analyzing criminal intelligence data, preparing reports, and assisting investigators in their efforts to combat fraud and misuse of state funds. This position plays a crucial role in safeguarding the public and businesses in Florida by providing analytical support and intelligence assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform criminal history and intelligence checks for investigations.
  • Support investigators in compiling and analyzing confidential information regarding insurance fraud and arson investigations.
  • Conduct detailed research of criminal investigations and documents related to fraud.
  • Compile, analyze, and disseminate criminal intelligence from various sources.
  • Coordinate information exchange among law enforcement agencies regarding criminal activity.
  • Evaluate and analyze criminal intelligence to predict capabilities and intentions of individuals involved in fraud.
  • Prepare oral briefings, written reports, and intelligence assessments for management.
  • Participate in search warrants and assist in evidence handling.
  • Serve as Terminal Agency Coordinator for FCIC/NCIC terminal procedures.
  • Respond to information requests from other agencies and represent the Division in meetings.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience in criminal, military, or law enforcement intelligence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of record writing techniques and research analysis techniques.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize criminal intelligence data.
  • Ability to write reports and investigative summaries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in criminal intelligence, financial analysis, military intelligence, or investigative analysis.
  • Experience in financial, forensic, statistical, or crime analysis.
  • Bilingual verbal and written skills that meet agency needs.
