About the position
The Secret Service is seeking courageous, intelligent, and determined individuals to join as special agents. This role involves a dual focus on investigations and protection, with agents potentially assigned to various duty stations both domestically and internationally. Special agents are responsible for providing protection for designated individuals, conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States, and planning security for National Special Security Events.
Responsibilities
- Providing protection for various protectees.
- Conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States.
- Planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Possess a current valid driver's license.
- Must obtain and retain a Top Secret Clearance during your career.
- Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in specified frequency ranges.
- Must be at least age 21 at the time of application and less than age 37 at the time of receiving a conditional offer, with exceptions for veterans.
- Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing thereafter.
- Must carry and use a firearm, maintaining proficiency is mandatory.
- Must complete 13 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
- Sign a mobility agreement for assignments anywhere in the U.S. and overseas.
- Must be appointed under an excepted appointment limited to 3 years and 120 days.
