Criminal Justice - Assistant Teaching Professor

About the position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in Criminal Justice to join a collaborative and inclusive environment. This role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including leading the internship program, and contributing to curriculum development. The position emphasizes high-quality instruction in various formats and requires engagement with students and the community.

Responsibilities

• Teach 4 courses per semester, including leading the internship program.
• Coordinate with local criminal justice agencies for student placements and evaluations.
• Prepare and teach courses in the undergraduate and potentially graduate criminal justice programs.
• Mentor students and facilitate independent studies or thesis/capstone projects.
• Participate in faculty meetings and serve on departmental and college committees.
• Engage with the community and support student clubs.

Requirements

• Master's degree in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline, or a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• At least 5 years of applied work experience with a criminal justice agency.
• Ability to teach criminal justice courses in various formats (on campus, hybrid, online).
• Experience coordinating with criminal justice agencies for internships and events.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 5 months of teaching experience at secondary or postsecondary levels.
• Prior experience teaching in multiple formats (on campus, hybrid, online).
• Specialization in cybercrime, forensics, policing, or related areas.
• Existing relationships with criminal justice agencies in the Colorado Springs area.
