About the position

The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is seeking multiple Full-Time, Limited Duration Criminal Justice / Emergency Communications Specialist positions, with an expected end date on or before June 30, 2025. This role is critical in providing a 24-hour coordinated response for local, state, and federal resource management, including network system administration, customer assistance, incident coordination, and emergency response management. As the single point of contact for statewide notifications, the specialist will make independent decisions that directly impact officer safety, environmental protection, and property security across Oregon. In this position, you will also serve as the primary contact for Technical Support for the Oregon State Police IT Service Desk during after-hours calls. Your responsibilities will include receiving initial support calls, logging requests in an online ticketing system, resolving minor issues when possible, and modifying on-call support during critical system outages that require immediate attention. This role demands a high level of communication and coordination with various agencies and the public, ensuring effective responses to emergencies and technical issues. Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour coordinated response for local, state, and federal resource management.

Requirements

  • Two years of communications experience in a public, private, or military agency communications center.
  • Experience involving frequent contact and/or coordination with the public or other governmental or nongovernmental agencies.
  • LEDS certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with members of the criminal justice and emergency management system.
  • Ability to use policy or procedure manuals and apply information to specific situations.
  • Experience working in a multi-tasking environment with quick changing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and respond effectively to multiple demands from communications equipment.
  • Skill in evaluating emergency calls and determining appropriate response levels.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $3,945 - $5,479 per month.
