About the position
The Criminal Justice Training Center in the College of Health and Human Services at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for various non-credit instructional positions. Available Roles include Physical Conditioning Instructor, First Aid and CPR Instructor, Application of Force Special Instructor, Firearms Special Instructor, Patrol Vehicle Operation Special Instructor, and General Instruction. IUP Instructors are part-time positions (Adjunct) and must be eligible for MPOETC instructor certification to apply, with a pay rate of $30 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in respective areas of expertise.
- Document and maintain records of student performance and attendance.
- Administer and grade tests.
- Help create and manage schedules.
- Conduct cadet inspections.
- Complete and submit required MPOETC paperwork in a timely manner.
- Monitor and evaluate instructors.
- Conduct student evaluations.
- Liaison with Penn West Cal-U and report to the Director as needed.
Requirements
- Must be eligible for MPOETC instructor certification.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts Degree or an Associate of Arts Degree depending on the role.
- Five years of police experience (must document) for most instructor roles.
- Completion of an acceptable Instructor Development Course or possession of a teaching certificate issued by the Department of Education.
- Current certifications relevant to the specific instructor role (e.g., CPR, Firearms).
Nice-to-haves
- Approved certifications in respective instructional areas.
- Experience in a law enforcement or educational setting.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to multitask and manage administrative duties.
