About the position
The Crisis Center Advocate position at The Resource Connection of Amador & Calaveras Counties, Inc. is a full-time role focused on providing essential support to individuals experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault. The advocate will deliver crisis services, including peer counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment, while working in a dynamic environment that emphasizes community well-being and safety. This role involves responding to hotline calls, assisting clients with legal processes, and collaborating with local schools for outreach and education.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention services including handling hotline calls and assisting with temporary restraining orders.
- Respond to hospital calls and arrange emergency shelter for clients.
- Assist clients with intake paperwork and help them achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Provide legal advocacy and accompany clients to court as needed.
- Advocate for clients with community agencies and participate in case management.
- Facilitate client support groups and oversee families residing in the Crisis Center Shelter.
- Gather and document statistical information for grant funding reports and maintain case files.
- Provide information and referrals for walk-in clients and respond to emergency calls with law enforcement or medical personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of prior social service or crisis intervention experience preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency for data input and maintaining case files.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with diverse populations from various racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Public speaking skills and the ability to facilitate groups.
