About the position
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Specialist is responsible for coordinating the CIT program, which serves as a vital link between behavioral health providers, consumers, and law enforcement in Elkton, Maryland. This role involves conducting training for law enforcement personnel and ensuring the quality assurance of the CIT program. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the program, including availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday trainings and meetings.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the CIT program in the assigned area.
- Conduct Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training for law enforcement personnel including Patrol Officers, School Resource Officers, 911 Operators, Detention Officers, and Probation & Parole agents.
- Oversee the quality assurance process for the CIT program.
- Participate in all mandatory trainings and check work e-mail according to agency protocol.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- One year of experience working with the criminal justice system and/or mental health issues.
- High ethical and professional standards of conduct.
- Superb public speaking and training skills.
- Collaborative attitude towards working with law enforcement partners.
- Excellent client/patient service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from office to vehicle to training location when necessary.
- Valid driver's license with proof of insurance and no more than 2 points.
