About the position

The Crisis Specialist position at Centerstone involves providing emergency mental health intervention to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This role includes face-to-face, phone, and telehealth crisis response and assessment services, as well as support and linkage to other resources for follow-up services. The specialist represents Centerstone professionally while interacting with external entities and is responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation of all contacts and follow-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage of crisis service beyond scheduled work hours as assigned by the crisis service supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of all contacts and enter all data in a timely manner.
  • Document client's follow-up needs for team follow-up.
  • Deescalate crisis situations as needed.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of risk of harm to self or others and document safety plans.
  • Make appropriate referrals for the least restrictive treatment possible to meet psychiatric needs.
  • Respond promptly to crisis calls.
  • Create an atmosphere of cooperation with Centerstone departments, community agencies, mental health consumers, and the public.
  • Attend all team meetings, clinical supervision, and complete online trainings as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, with equivalent education/experience considered upon approval.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
