About the position

The Crisis Stabilization Unit Nurse (LPN/RN) position at Zepf Center involves providing nursing care in a crisis stabilization unit, focusing on individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The role is essential in stabilizing patients through nursing and behavioral supports in a 24-hour care environment. The nurse will work as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, ensuring comprehensive care and support for patients in crisis.

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals in crisis and provide appropriate nursing care.
• Carry out doctor's orders, including medication administration and laboratory draws.
• Conduct therapeutic groups and document care provided according to standards.
• Review files of admissions from previous shifts and ensure appropriate follow-up on medical issues.
• Complete vital signs on all patients as per policy and prudent judgment.
• Ensure medications are available for distribution to patients on upcoming shifts.
• Document medical information in patient records and shift reports according to established policies.
• Provide education to patients regarding medical issues and self-care.
• Intervene in crisis situations using appropriate resources, including emergency services.
• Assist incoming shifts by providing pertinent medical information.

Requirements

• Must be an LPN or RN in good standing with certification for medication administration.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CPR and First Aid trained, and CPI certified.
• Knowledge of CARF standards and community resources for referrals.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong written communication skills for accurate documentation.
• Medical knowledge and experience to fulfill responsibilities.
