About the position

The Crisis Worker position involves providing behavioral support services to clients in crisis, ensuring their safety and well-being while facilitating de-escalation techniques. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and maintain positive relationships with clients and community partners. The Crisis Worker will also be responsible for documentation, emergency response, and coordination of care, contributing to the overall rehabilitation and recovery of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis.
  • Initiate and facilitate de-escalation techniques and strategies to assist the client in maintaining self-control.
  • Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain client cooperation and resolve conflicts.
  • Interact with all clients in accordance with the individual service plan and the therapeutic process.
  • Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of the client and others at all times.
  • Exercise appropriate intervention to protect clients from harming themselves or others.
  • Coordinate closely with other staff and community partners to ensure appropriate treatment modalities and services.
  • Be available for 24 Hour Emergency Crisis Response to assigned participants.
  • Serve as clinical liaison to referral sources and parents regarding progress and needs.
  • Develop and implement plans for discharge including mobilization of resources for ongoing maintenance, rehabilitation & recovery.
  • Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner and consistent with program policies and licensure requirements.
  • Administer first aid to clients in response to minor medical problems.
  • Notify Supervisor of any significant client medical complaints, unusual events, accidents, or property damage.
  • Provide support and linkage to community resources for participants.
  • Monitor mental health symptoms, compliance with medication regimen, health nutrition, and physical condition of participants.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with other agencies involved in the care of participants.
  • Promote the program positively to elicit referrals and maintain program growth.
  • Ensure that every Incident Report is completed immediately after the incident and submitted to the supervisor or Director the same day.

Requirements

  • Be a Qualified Mental Health Professional - Adult (QMHP-A) and/or Qualified Mental Health Professional - Child (QMHP-C) or be a licensed mental health professional.
  • Experience in clinical crisis counseling and case management.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Provide and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Access to and ability to use a computer, printer, internet services, and other necessary items for documentation.
