About the position
Westchester Medical Center is seeking a collaborative and motivated Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join the Department of Anesthesiology. This role involves providing anesthetic care in critical situations, managing treatment in the ICU, and contributing to the academic mission of the institution. The physician will work in both critical care and general anesthesia, supporting the growth of the department and serving the unique patient population in the Hudson Valley.
Responsibilities
- Providing anesthetic care in critical situations
- Managing treatment and coordinating care with other specialists in the ICUs
- Leading daily rounds with the ICU and surgical teams
- Overseeing the Post Anesthesia Recovery Room (PACU)
- Engaging in research and contributing to advances in anesthesiology and surgical critical care
- Providing dedicated 24/7 coverage for complex, critically ill multidisciplinary patients and surgery patients
- Collaborating closely with traumatologists and surgical critical care intensivists
- Curriculum development for surgical and anesthesiology residents and fellows
- Participating in flexible rotations in the cardiothoracic ICU
- Participating in a flexible OR call schedule with post-call days off
- Working nocturnist hours, if desired, to ensure 24/7 coverage of critically ill patients
- Teaching surgical, anesthesiology, medicine residents, fellows, and medical students
Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine
- Exceptional clinical skills and a commitment to patient-centered care
