About the position
The Critical Care Technician (CCT) role at Froedtert Health involves providing delegated care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The CCT is responsible for assisting patients with basic nursing and personal care tasks, ensuring culturally sensitive care, and may also provide continuous safety observation. This position is integral to the high-energy environment of the MICU, which caters to severely ill patients requiring intensive care and frequent nursing interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with basic nursing skills and personal care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Provide age-appropriate care in a culturally sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units.
- Perform tasks related to basic restorative services and necessary critical care skills as outlined in clinical competency assessments.
- Engage in continuous safety observation of patients as required.
- Support the nursing staff in delivering high-quality ICU care to patients and their families.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, or must be currently enrolled in a nursing program with documentation of successful completion of basic nursing courses.
- Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of hire is required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
Nice-to-haves
