About the position

The Critical Facility Technician (CFT) is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of mission-critical facilities, ensuring high-quality work without impacting internal or external customers. This non-exempt position requires effective interaction with customers, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and vendor management. The CFT plays a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure's 99.999% uptime.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounds and readings, logging the status of technical and other equipment, and reporting discrepancies or abnormalities.
• Understand the function and operation of electrical and mechanical components such as UPS, generators, batteries, transfer switches, and air conditioning units.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance instructions, generating documentation as necessary.
• Use hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and repairs according to established safety guidelines, logging activities into tracking systems.
• Maintain knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory and government regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Technical education or equivalent 3+ years' experience in related environments.
• Eligible for a security clearance in many cases.
• Knowledge and experience using basic computer applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift or move objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
