About the position

The Critical Operations Technician (COT) at Prime Data Centers is responsible for hands-on troubleshooting and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment within the data center. This role is crucial for maintaining customer uptime and ensuring that data center issues are resolved efficiently. The COT will work on various equipment including generators, UPSs, and building automation systems, while adhering to safety procedures and managing contractor services.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, including emergency generators and fire/life safety systems.
• Troubleshoot facility events within internal service level agreements (SLAs).
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure adherence to all safety procedures while performing work.
• Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds and log taking.
• Perform Building Management System (BMS) monitoring, logging, reporting, and trending of critical information.
• Utilize internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

Requirements

• Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency.
• Background in IT, electrical, and/or mechanical fields.

Nice-to-haves

• Two or more years of work experience in a data center environment or equivalent.
