About the position

The CRNA Assistant Program Director at George Fox University is a faculty position that plays a crucial role in the development and administration of the CRNA program. This position is designed for an individual who is passionate about preparing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to serve in rural settings throughout Oregon. The successful candidate will work closely with the CRNA Program Director and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include teaching, student advisement, service, and scholarship responsibilities. In this role, the Assistant Program Director will assist in leading all aspects of the educational program, which encompasses administration, didactic and clinical curriculum, faculty recruitment and development, national accreditation, compliance with state regulations, and evaluation. The candidate will also be responsible for developing clinical sites and coordinating clinical education functions, assessing student performance, and providing timely feedback to ensure student success. The role demands effective communication between the academic institution, clinical partners, and all relevant stakeholders. The Assistant Program Director will supervise students during their clinical experiences, provide guidance and support, and evaluate clinical sites and coordinators based on student feedback and ongoing communication. Additionally, the candidate will maintain policies and procedures for clinical site selection and ensure that the program meets accreditation standards. The position also involves participating in the development of clinical education faculty and fostering a collaborative environment that respects diversity and promotes teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with leadership of all aspects of the educational program including administration, didactic and clinical curriculum, faculty recruitment and development, national accreditation, compliance with state regulations, and evaluation.
  • Teaching CRNA courses and engaging in scholarship and service activities for the university.
  • Demonstrating professional skills and interactions that support the mission and vision of the CRNA program and the university.
  • Developing clinical sites and participating in the planning and coordination of clinical education functions.
  • Assessing student performance, monitoring student progress, and providing timely feedback.
  • Communicating between the academic institution, clinical partners, and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Placing, supervising, and communicating with students throughout clinical experiences.
  • Providing guidance and support to students to problem solve and discuss pertinent issues.
  • Evaluating each clinical site and clinical coordinator through student feedback, on-site visits, and ongoing communication and relationship building.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures for clinical site selection, clinical coordinator selection, utilization, and evaluation.
  • Maintaining an adequate number of clinical sites relative to quality, quantity, and diversity of learning experiences to meet the educational needs of students, the philosophy and outcomes of the program, and COA accreditation standards.
  • Participating in accreditation.
  • Coordinating and participating in the development of clinical education faculty.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • Being a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

Requirements

  • An active unencumbered Oregon APRN license.
  • Current CRNA certification from NBCRNA.
  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development and administration.
  • Current knowledge of CRNA practice and related professional issues.
  • Current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for nurse anesthesia educational programs.
  • Minimum five years of full-time equivalent CRNA clinical experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.
