About the position

Meritas Health is seeking PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join their Anesthesiology team. This role involves providing Monitored Anesthesia Care, Regional, and General Anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist, while also holding independent professional responsibility as an advanced practice nurse. The CRNAs will play a crucial role in ensuring quality anesthesia care and contributing to the quality management program.

Responsibilities

• Review anesthesia informed consent and pre-anesthesia evaluation, including laboratory and diagnostic studies.
• Collaborate with the anesthesiologist on the plan of care to provide the most appropriate and safest anesthesia for each patient.
• Administer adequate depth of anesthesia and vigilantly monitor the patient throughout surgery and procedures.
• Observe and record all objective and subjective data in the electronic record.
• Recognize and take appropriate corrective action to patient responses in consultation with the anesthesiologist during the intra-operative phase.
• Assist and perform necessary invasive procedures.
• Implement orders and considerations specified by the anesthesiologist.
• Report to PACU RN necessary information and hand off care.
• Evaluate effectiveness and complications of anesthesia by performing post-operative rounds.
• Observe safety measures in performance of job duties and responsibilities.
• Comply with policies and procedures.
• Efficiently perform all aspects of patient care in an environment optimizing patient safety and reducing the likelihood of errors.
• Advocate for patients during the perioperative phase.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia.
• Active Missouri Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists License.
• Minimum of one (1) year critical care nursing experience.
• Certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association required.

Nice-to-haves

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred.
