About the position

The CTWC Pharmacist at Crooked Tree Wellness Clinic is responsible for dispensing prescriptions and ensuring high-quality service in the pharmacy. This role involves working under the direction of the Lead Pharmacist to manage day-to-day pharmacy operations while providing excellent customer service and culturally competent care to the Native American community.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescriptions and ensure high-quality service in the pharmacy.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Recognize and address the cultural dimensions of health education in Native American communities.
  • Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
  • Review medical records for safety and appropriateness of drug therapy, alerting medical staff to potential issues.
  • Select, procure, and prepare medications that conform to quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate filling and dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
  • Compute dosages, weights, and measures drugs; mix and compound drugs as necessary.
  • Specify and label directions and precautions for medications.
  • Review inventory counts and comply with federal and state reporting guidelines.
  • Properly store and protect drugs and chemicals from external influences.
  • Document all clinical activities in patient medical records.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate medication lists and allergies in patient records.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to evaluate drug effectiveness and safety.
  • Coordinate care with outside agencies and process prescriptions as needed.
  • Maximize revenue through effective use of pharmacy billing packages.
  • Consult and provide drug information to the community and clinical staff.
  • Counsel patients on the safe and effective use of medications.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid pharmacist license in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in a clinical or community pharmacy.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and medication management.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Cultural competence in working with Native American populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pharmacy billing systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
