About the position

The Crop Specialist at GAPS FS is responsible for selling and marketing agricultural products and services to both new and existing customers. This role involves implementing marketing plans, developing sales strategies, and providing agronomic recommendations to enhance customer relationships and drive sales in the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Implement marketing plans and develop sales strategies to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.
  • Travel to client locations within the assigned territory to establish the GROWMARK brand and obtain orders for products and services.
  • Utilize target marketing and professional sales techniques when calling on patrons and prospects.
  • Adhere to GROWMARK's sales and marketing strategies and attend sales trainings as offered.
  • Meet sales goals as established by the supervisor.
  • Develop territory and competitive analysis to maintain knowledge of the marketplace and competition.
  • Provide value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.
  • Schedule product delivery and application to patron locations.
  • Conduct regular patron meetings on product and technical information to develop customer relationships and drive sales.
  • Provide customer service by using soil testing, crop scouting, and other programs, and follow up on customer complaints.
  • Ensure the credit worthiness of customers, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Promote the use of credit programs as a sales tool and help provide required information to establish credit.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in agriculture, marketing, or business, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years or more of related work experience demonstrating knowledge of production agriculture.
  • Possess or obtain a seller's or solicitor's license where required by law.
  • Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
  • Understanding of GROWMARK agronomy products, services, and programs is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the agronomy industry (e.g., CCA, CCS, CPAg, Commercial Applicator).
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons.
