About the position
The Cross-Border Freight Specialist at eShipping is responsible for ensuring the timely and compliant movement of cross-border shipments between the U.S. and Mexico. This role involves coordinating logistics, negotiating with carriers, and providing exceptional customer service while managing documentation and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the booking of shipments to and from Mexico via truck.
- Arrange pick-ups and deliveries with authorized carriers and agents.
- Negotiate with LTL and Truckload carriers to secure optimal rates and space for shipments.
- Generate spot quotes in the operating system following recommended guidelines.
- Prepare and file export clearance (EEI) documentation as required for U.S. shipments to Mexico.
- Prepare, handle, and process U.S./Mexico cross-border documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, Carta Porte, DODA, and Complimento Carta Porte.
- Serve as a liaison with customs brokers and agents to ensure smooth shipment flow.
- Drive communication with customs customers, carriers, Mexican vendors, brokers, and team members through a high volume of emails and calls.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable government regulations, customer requirements, and internal policies.
- Generate and issue accurate, timely customer invoices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior customer-facing experience.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.
- Negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented and accurate.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not mandatory).
- Industry experience (preferred but not necessary).
