About the position

The Cross Country Coach position at Northwest Middle School is a part-time role focused on coaching middle school students in cross country running. The coach will be responsible for developing training programs, leading practices, and preparing the team for competitions. This position is crucial for fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes, encouraging their physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The coaching supplement for this role is based on the athletic special supplement schedule and ranges from $233.00 to $434.00 monthly, depending on the coach's experience. Additional coaching duties may be assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director, which will come with extra compensation. The coach will also be expected to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to promote the cross country program and ensure a successful season.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training programs for cross country runners.
• Lead and supervise team practices and competitions.
• Foster a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and events.
• Assist in the organization of cross country meets and events.

Requirements

• Successful high school and/or college cross country experience, or other relevant experience.
• Hold or be eligible to hold a NC commercial driver's license to operate a school activity bus (preferred).
• Willingness to undergo periodic US Department of Transportation random controlled substance screenings.
