About the position

As a Cross-Functional Backend Developer with a focus on Python and Laravel, you will play a vital role in our development team, responsible for architecting and implementing robust backend services that enhance our applications and provide data-driven insights. This position requires collaboration with both internal and overseas teams to optimize data pipelines and create scalable solutions that improve user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance APIs and backend services using Laravel and/or Python.
• Manage and optimize MySQL databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
• Leverage Google BigQuery for large-scale data analytics and reporting.
• Work closely with front-end developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to seamlessly integrate systems and ensure efficient data flow.
• Apply expertise to solve complex business problems with data-driven solutions, improving performance and user experience.
• Update and maintain existing systems, ensuring they're efficient, adaptable, and aligned with evolving requirements.
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code adhering to best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's knowledge growth.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends in database technologies, backend development, and cloud services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience, demonstrating strong proficiency in PHP (Laravel), Python, or a similar object-oriented language.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (MySQL), including schema design, optimization, and administration.
• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery or comparable large-scale data analytics platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other database technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated engagement with the open-source community.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
