About the position

The Program Director at the Cancer Support Community (CSC) in Washington, D.C. is responsible for overseeing and managing all clinical programs and services aimed at supporting individuals impacted by cancer in the DMV region. This role involves collaboration with the Executive Director, supervision of clinical staff, and active participation in community outreach. The Program Director ensures adherence to policies and guidelines while developing and implementing psychosocial and clinical programs, providing direct support to patients and families, and evaluating program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise CSC DC Program staff.
  • Develop, implement, and manage psychosocial and clinical programs and services for CSC DC.
  • Utilize clinical skills to manage and guide programs, including distress screenings and group support.
  • Provide individualized assistance and personalized support to patients, survivors, and families.
  • Oversee planning and coordination of in-person and virtual support groups and events.
  • Utilize CMR database to track program metrics and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Make presentations to healthcare professionals and other groups as needed.
  • Manage Program staff according to CSC DC personnel policies and procedures.
  • Serve as liaison to referral sources, media, and other constituents.
  • Promote awareness of CSC DC through marketing and outreach.

Requirements

  • Clinical license in Washington, D.C. (Virginia and Maryland preferred).
  • Licensed Master's level mental health professional (e.g., MSW, MFT, Licensed Mental Health Clinician, Clinical Psychologist).
  • Three to five years of non-profit or social services-based oncology patient support experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience networking within the DMV medical/oncology market.
  • Effective time management and leadership skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
