About the position

As a Lead Software Architect at SPX Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture design for our commercial ASP.Net software applications and complementary Cloud SAAS applications. This position requires a deep understanding of secure cloud technology design and secure development practices, as you will be the subject matter expert guiding the implementation of our solutions on a global scale. Your expertise will be crucial in extending our existing ASP.Net software code and enhancing our AWS Cloud architecture, ensuring that we maximize the return on investment for both private and public sector customers. In this role, you will set the architectural direction for the software services team, collaborating closely with engineering resources to align technical vision with business objectives. Your proven expertise in AWS Cloud architecture, particularly with a focus on Microservices, will be essential as you lead development efforts to prolong the platform's lifecycle. You will also be responsible for participating in process improvement initiatives, enhancing the effectiveness of the software sales function, and contributing to group projects that align with the overall goals of the department and organization. Your daily responsibilities will include providing technical expertise, sharing best practices for software development, and ensuring that the team adheres to established processes and methodologies. You will actively engage in continuous improvement efforts, ensuring that our software solutions remain at the forefront of technology and meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Setting architectural direction for the software services team.
  • Collaborating with Engineering resources to align technical vision with business objectives for successful product development.
  • Exhibiting expertise in AWS Cloud architecture focused on Microservices.
  • Providing knowledge of the product development lifecycle and process tools.
  • Utilizing proficiency in core development languages such as C, C#, and Javascript.
  • Demonstrating solid knowledge of RDBMS, web applications, and native application development.
  • Sharing expert knowledge of software development best practices (CMM, ISO) and methodologies (SOA, OOAD, UML, .NET, DirectShow, JXON, Restful Services, React).
  • Participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance software sales effectiveness.
  • Engaging in group projects that relate to departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years' experience in Systems/Software Engineering leading at least two enterprise class applications.
  • Five (5)+ years' experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Three (3)+ years' experience deploying security strategy and implementation within an AWS ecosystem.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS architectural solutions within Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience in designing enterprise APIs and working in Linux operating system.
  • Knowledge of traditional security controls (SOC2) and technologies such as SIEM systems and IDS/IPS.
  • Working knowledge in SQL and using an ORM (nHibernate preferably).
  • Familiarity with near real-time data collection, GIS systems, Git, NuGet, and Coverity code scanner software.
