About the position

The CSI Coordinator & Student Success Advisor at The Citadel plays a crucial role in supporting the institution's mission to educate and prepare principled leaders. This full-time position focuses on enhancing student success through the development and implementation of retention, progression, and graduation initiatives. The advisor will work closely with students, providing one-on-one advising, monitoring academic performance, and facilitating access to campus services.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the CSI program and initiatives
  • Participate in events such as orientation and informational sessions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of services and programs
  • Provide one-on-one advising sessions for current and prospective students
  • Monitor student academic performance and attendance in collaboration with the Commandant's department
  • Maintain student records and data security
  • Assist with referrals to campus services based on student needs
  • Identify at-risk current and future students
  • Assist with the development and implementation of intervention strategies/programs
  • Work with students on career-relevant programs of study
  • Assist students with technology including DegreeWorks, Banner, and Canvas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience in student support within higher education
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of academic advising techniques and procedures
  • Ability to work with students in a mentoring and service-oriented manner
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively regarding advising and student success operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in education, counseling, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in student support within higher education
  • Experience with Banner student information systems.
