The Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive operations. This position involves overseeing SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) operations, personnel security, program support, physical security, document control, badging, and access control. The CSSO is responsible for implementing all requisite national security directives, with a specific emphasis on NISPOM, Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and JAFAN requirements. This role requires a seasoned security professional who can work independently and make decisions without direct supervision while exhibiting flexibility and managing customer expectations in a fast-paced environment. The CSSO will be responsible for current and future 705 build-outs and will support multiple federal agencies with varying security standards and procedures. This includes maintaining SCIF accreditations, conducting security education and training, and assisting with the development and implementation of security policies and procedures, including the insider threat program. The CSSO will also provide security indoctrinations, debriefings, and briefings for personnel, coordinate co-utilization agreements for facilities, and process SCI nominations. Investigating security violations and maintaining personnel security files are also key responsibilities. The CSSO will act as an advocate for the security program, utilizing strong communication skills to work with senior-level managers and ensure compliance with security policies and standards necessary for protecting classified information.
