About the position

The CSU Nurse (LPN/RN) Contingent position at Zepf Center involves providing nursing care in a crisis stabilization unit for individuals experiencing mental health crises. The role focuses on stabilizing patients through nursing and behavioral supports in a 24-hour care environment. The nurse will work as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, ensuring comprehensive care and documentation while adhering to agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals in crisis and provide appropriate nursing care.
• Carry out doctor's orders, including medication administration and laboratory draws.
• Conduct therapeutic groups and document care provided according to standards.
• Review files of admissions from previous shifts and ensure appropriate follow-up on medical issues.
• Complete vital signs on all patients as per policy and prudent judgment.
• Ensure medications are available for upcoming shifts and document medical information appropriately.
• Provide education to patients regarding medical issues and self-care.
• Intervene in crisis situations using appropriate resources, including emergency services.
• Assist incoming shifts with pertinent medical information.

Requirements

• Must be an LPN or RN in good standing with certification for medication administration.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CPR and First Aid trained, and crisis intervention (CPI) certified.
• Knowledge of community resources and mental health services.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong written communication skills for accurate documentation.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of CARF standards.
• Experience in behavioral health or crisis care settings.
