About the position

The CSWS St. Johns Boosters Social Media & Events Assistant position is a Community Service Work Study student employment opportunity at the University of Portland. This role is designed for students who have Federal Work Study funds as part of their financial aid package. The St. Johns Boosters organization is dedicated to supporting and promoting local businesses in the St. Johns area through advocacy, education, and networking. The mission of the Boosters is to foster a vibrant and diverse community by providing a welcoming space for local businesses and organizations to thrive. In this position, the assistant will be responsible for managing the social media presence of the St. Johns Boosters, specifically focusing on their Instagram and Facebook pages. The goal is to increase engagement and create a more dynamic online profile that highlights local businesses. The assistant will create social media content, including reels that showcase local businesses, helping to promote their services and products. Additionally, the assistant will play a key role in the preparation and execution of various events organized by the St. Johns Boosters, such as the “Spring Fling” and Ugly Sweater Events. This role requires a blend of creativity, organizational skills, and a passion for community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Create Instagram and Facebook content (including Reels) of local small businesses to help promote St. Johns businesses
  • Manage the Boosters' Instagram and Facebook pages to increase engagement and create a more dynamic social media reach
  • Help with St. Johns Boosters events preparation, coordination, and execution for events such as 'Spring Fling' and Ugly Sweater Events
  • Provide programming support in preparation for and day of events
  • Potential assistance with CRM HubSpot
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package
  • Must have working knowledge of Instagram and Facebook
  • Good organization skills

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $0.75 above Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.70/hour)
