About the position

The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for performing specialized diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced computerized tomography equipment. This role involves working closely with physicians to ensure precise execution of scans, maintaining safety standards, and providing patient care during procedures. The technologist operates complex machinery, prepares patients for scans, and ensures high-quality imaging results while adhering to departmental protocols and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operates highly sophisticated x-ray equipment and performs specialized diagnostic procedures.
  • Conducts dynamic and specialized scans of various body parts as ordered, ensuring quality control.
  • Prepares sterile fields for procedures such as biopsy drainage studies.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with safety standards.
  • Assists physicians during procedures and follows protocol for equipment operation.
  • Reviews patient charts for relevant medical information before scans.
  • Checks patient identification and ensures proper procedures are followed before scans.
  • Injects contrast material as approved by the radiologist and practices Universal Precautions.
  • Develops films and adjusts processing equipment as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs during procedures.
  • Initiates life-supporting measures when necessary and maintains CPR certification.
  • Completes laboratory records and reports, ensuring accurate documentation of procedures.
  • Participates in training and in-service programs to stay updated on new equipment and techniques.
  • Contributes to quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Requirements

  • 0 to 3 years of related experience in a medical imaging environment.
  • Graduation from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with additional training in CT.
  • Valid Florida State license as a Radiology Technologist is required.
  • ARRT certification required based on hire date and training location.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
