About the position

The CT Tech position at Mount Sinai Hospital is a full-time role focused on performing CT scan studies of anatomical areas as ordered and directed, adhering to established standards and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting, preparing, and positioning patients to ensure effective imaging procedures. This role requires the execution of CT scans and other diagnostic exams, applying technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality based on written protocols and the specific needs of patients. The CT Tech will provide patient education relevant to the imaging procedures, informing patients about the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions they may need to follow. In addition to performing CT scans, the CT Tech will operate all radiographic imaging equipment associated with CT, including injectors, and prepare patients with aseptic solutions and sterile drapes. The role also involves assisting in the preparation of sterile surgical instruments and supplies needed for CT biopsy examinations, as well as assisting physicians with room setup and procedures when required. The CT Tech will load and program contrast media power injectors according to established departmental procedures and coordinate scan protocols with radiologists. A critical aspect of this position is minimizing radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques and performing all quality assurance procedures as required. The CT Tech will ensure that all images are appropriately labeled as specified by departmental SOPs, evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability, and ensure timely transmission of images to PACS. Maintaining cleanliness in the radiology room and equipment is essential, as is the accurate recording of patient tracking information into the Radiology Information System (IDX). The CT Tech will also schedule exams in IDX as required and perform related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel. Adherence to infection control policies and protocols is crucial to prevent the spread of infection. The position requires attendance at in-services and professional development meetings, and the CT Tech must maintain licensure specific to the job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
