About the position

The CT Technologist at Baylor Scott & White Health performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. This role is essential for diagnosing diseases and injuries in patients, ensuring high-quality imaging while adhering to established protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitor radiation doses during procedures.
  • Utilize iSTAT point of care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
  • Communicate effectively with patients using AIDET to ensure correct exams are performed and establish rapport.
  • Instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the tests to be performed.
  • Prepare patients and the area for procedures by positioning patients and adjusting equipment controls.
  • Adhere to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, and protocols.
  • Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Report equipment issues to management or appropriate departments.
  • Assist in maintaining supplies inventory and ensure safety screening of individuals entering the department.
  • Obtain and maintain all relevant documentation for imaging procedures.

Requirements

  • ARRT (CT) Certification
  • ARRT (R) Certification
  • ARRT (N) Certification
  • CNMT Certification
  • Ability to perform high quality CT procedures independently
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and infection control protocols
  • Effective communication skills with patients and families
  • Ability to maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress
  • Current knowledge of care for various age groups (newborn to geriatric)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital setting
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor for new team members
  • Experience with emergency procedures
